2012 NVC Mediation Immersion Program: East CoastTo be truly at ease with yourself and those around you is transformative. The first step is to approach every conflict—whether internal or external—as an opportunity. When we understand and communicate our needs with clarity and with deep empathy for the universality of those needs, conflict leads to connection. The illusion of separation from self and others crumbles. Finally, we are at home in the world. Starting January 12, 2012 at the Essex Conference Center & Retreat, John Kinyon and Ike Lasater present a simple yet powerful process for learning these vital skills and applying them to daily life. The process builds on the work of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) founder Marshall Rosenberg. For thousands of people around the world, it has been the key to learning a new way to communicate—and a new way to live. Immersion Program: US East CoastThe yearlong immersion program's three four-day intensives build on each other. With each gathering, we go deeper. And between intensives, you'll integrate all you are learning with structured, supported individual and group practice. The January intensive is open to those who want to try one before committing to the full program. We now have a new curriculum and a more explicit role for returning students to play both during and between intensives. Intensive 1. You'll develop the capacity to be present during conflict and practice applying NVC to mediating conflict – internally, between yourself and others, and between others. Among the topics: self-connection and intensity practices; the three-chair model for personal growth; the nine mediation skills; the mourn/celebrate/learn process. Intensive 2. We'll introduce new material on interpersonal (self–other) mediation while expanding on previous learning. You'll begin to gain real confidence. Among the topics: the enemy image process for self-transformation, conflict coaching, and premediation; the interpersonal mediation model; the "making amends" process, using Marshall Rosenberg's healing and reconciliation model. Intensive 3. We go deeper still into mediating internal conflicts, and we explore mediating group and community conflicts. You'll begin to embody the skills in your life. Among the topics: mediating connection between inner and shadow aspects of the self; the healing and reconciliation role-play process; group decision making and "accreted" mediation; putting barriers to success into the chairs. Between intensives:
